Working with direction from IT management, the IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for the installation/configuration, operations, support and maintenance of any IT infrastructure managed by the IT department, irrespective of geography, with the objective of ensuring high levels of performance, confidentiality, integrity, availability and security of the supported infrastructure.
The IT Infrastructure Administrator also assists the Technical & Operations Manager in the technical design and procurement requirements of infrastructure hardware and software as well as participates in the design/improvement of processes, procedures and practices for systems administration and provides support as needed to the helpdesk team.
All tasks are to be accomplished according to industry best practices, regulatory requirements, Company /Department policies, procedures and guidelines.
The position requires on-call availability and working during non-business hours and on week-ends and may require international travel.

Main Duties
- Attend presentations/demonstrations from suppliers and submit report of technologies presented and areas of applicability to the Group’s business activities
- Evaluate new technologies/products
- Liaise with suppliers for technical clarifications
- Provide evaluation reports for new technologies
- Assist the Technical and Operations Manager in defining the technical and procurement requirements for the acquisition of new infrastructure related technologies
- Receive new acquisitions and verify conformity with orders
- Acknowledge delivery of new acquisitions
- Update asset documentation where applicable
- Collate purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices and submit to Technical and Operations Manager
- Prepare technical configuration plan
- Verify compatibility with existing systems
- Prepare test plan
- Configure equipment/software according to technical configuration plan
- Test equipment/software in test lab according to test plan
- Update configuration plan with as is configuration
- Provide test report for newly acquired technologies
- Prepare infrastructure change plan, including all aspects of Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability
- Design processes/procedures and practices
- Prepare implementation schedule
- Obtain approval of change plans/implementation schedule
- Install/configure equipment/software according to change plans and implementation schedule
- Supervise suppliers and ensure that installation is according to change plans and established policies and procedures, guidelines
- Verify correct operation of equipment /software
- Update technical and administrative documentation of all impacted systems/processes/procedures and practices
- Sign-off of change plans/requests
- Ensure all relevant documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Prepare post-implementation report
- Participate in post-implementation reviews
- Coordinate with IT management, IT team and other relevant groups to effectively perform general and routine tasks
- Monitor server room environmental health
- Monitor the integrity and availability of any IT infrastructure managed by the IT department including, but not limited to, UPS, WAN, Wired and Wireless LAN, Firewalls, SAN, NAS, Physical & Virtual Servers and Operating Systems, Infrastructure applications (Active Directory, Anti-virus, Email, Intranet, Databases, Access Control…), telephone system
- Monitor the successful update of the latest anti-virus files to servers and end-user systems, where applicable
- Monitor the integrity and availability of backups
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required systems and data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes and /or disks, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
- Perform and test routine restores
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any security issues
- Review systems/application/event/ security/error logs
- Attend to alerts from systems during non-business hours and on week-ends
- Log all issues arising from monitoring, review, tests, alerts and inform direct report
- Diagnose, research and troubleshoot systems when experiencing issues by identifying what the problem is, finding workarounds and permanent resolution by addressing the root cause of the issue
- Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken until permanent resolution
- Liaise with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for problem solving efforts
- Follow up on all issues until permanent resolution
- Update documentation of issues and resolution service records
- Develop scripts for automating administration tasks
- Tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing
- Provide periodic reports and capacity data for hardware warranty, software licensing and asset management
- Maintain master copies of the software in a secure, central location
- Ensure supplier maintenance contract schedules are adhered to
- Apply network/servers/operating systems/infrastructure applications/telephony/end user equipment upgrades, updates, patches and configuration changes as required
- Perform network patching
- Answer technical queries form team members and users
- Troubleshoot, research and resolve issues escalated from desktop team
- Provide documentation of configuration and troubleshooting procedures to facilitate other team members.
- Deputise for other IT Infrastructure Administrators/ IT Desktop Administrators as required
- Perform user administration, including maintaining up to date user and user equipment administrative records as well as access rights
- Recommend, software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases
- Identify opportunities for automation of aforementioned activities.
- Look for synergies within the production environment from the perspective of complexity, cost, and maintenance activity reduction
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
- Identify when established procedures are not working or gaps in processes and make recommendations for improvement
- Apply lessons learned to next assignments
- Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant advances in technologies, equipment, and/or systems through on-the-job training, attending technical courses or conferences, reading, research and testing
- Obtain relevant certifications as per training requirements in a satisfactory manner
- Learn from experience and informal instruction

Qualifications
- Two-year Diploma in Information Technology or better
- Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 certifications, preferably MCITP, MCSA or MCSE
- CCNA/CCNP desired
- ITIL certification desired
- HPE Server certification desired
Other Requisites
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Advanced knowledge in systems administration with at least 3 years in a similar position. This includes being able to specify, implement and document best-practices standards for systems administration related to backups, architecture, security, high-availability solutions, monitoring and procedures
- Experience with installation and configuration of Cisco routers, Firewalls, HPE/Aruba switches and Access points.
- Strong experience in administering converged infrastructure, preferably HPE Simplivity.
- Strong experience with administration of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, and Hyper-V in a clustered and virtualized environment, including PowerShell
- Strong experience with administration of VMware vSphere 7 or above
- Strong experience with administration of SAN/NAS Storage, including replication
- Strong experience with administering Active Directory, IIS, GPO’s, DHCP, Certificates, and DNS
- At least 2 years in MS SQL server maintenance
- Familiarity with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, SCVMM and SCOM
- Experience with administration of EDR and XDR
- Experience with M365 administration
- Experience with VoIP / PBX technology, 3CX preferred
